SALISBURY STATE UNIVERSITY EMAIL FROM THE VP OF STUDENT AFFAIRS We've included our comments in red.
** Proprietary ** Dear Student:
Last April a web-based organization, (fukitt.com), a group that
records and promotes "party cultures" (Party cultures?! We promote living life without regret and accepting challenges worth the risk...get it right!) on college campuses, was invited to Salisbury University by two students. Their visit prompted an event
that attracted over 700 students and non-students to University Park and
resulted in serious problems (Caused by the cops' presence at a controlled fun environment) , including bottle throwing, property damage
and personal injury. The event received extensive coverage by local
media and seriously damaged University relations with the community by
the image it portrayed of SU students based on the actions of a few (Yes, it was the actions of the few...between a few assh*les and officers! The only ones that got hurt were those touched by the cops! We're there any reports of fights between the students?! Don't punish everyone...)
In an effort to prevent a recurrence (You mean to piss the students off), this year the University
will monitor this website and alert off-campus landlords and local
police agencies of any planned event. Should an event occur, the
University's response will include but not be limited to the following:
1. Through University Police we will offer assistance
to local police agencies. (F_ck me if I'm wrong, but is it just coincidence that we only had this kind of trouble in Salisbury State University?)
2. If the event creates the kind of general disorder
and dangerous conditions that were observed last year (Which means telling the authorities not to attend and letting the students enjoy themselves), any SU students found responsible for hosting, organizing or promoting the event will be
expelled from the University. (What are you not understanding?! We don't have "events!" We just have students host us and give us a tour of their campus lifestyle. We just attend and capture what we see. Stop blaming this on the students or fukitt...the cops provoked the students to act like they did.)
3. Any SU students who attend the event and who act in
a dangerous or assaultive manner, or who damage property will be
expelled from the University (That's probably the ONLY thing we agree with in this whole email!) .
While the University supports students who wish to socialize
with friends in a way that respects the rights of others (That's exactly what you need to tell the "police agencies"!) , we have an obligation to prevent conditions that are dangerous and do serious
damage to University-community relations and the image of our students (If you didn't make such a big deal out of it...it would have just been a weekend when the students had the best party of their lives...without trouble.). We intend to protect these interests on behalf of all SU students ("Cough cough bullsh_t!" You mean protecting your "image" and reputation of taking control of students.).
Finally, if this activity occurs, don't go (That's a good one...). You will, by your presence, increase the prospect for problems. (What exactly were the problems last year?! What made the cops come in the first place?!) A larger crowd predicts a larger police response. (A larger police response will predict more pissed off students) Consider seriously what you, other students, the University and the community have at stake in making your decisions. (Well, let's see what the students do...)
Sincerely, |
